What is Automotive Battery | Types of Automotive Batteries

An automobile battery is one of the most important parts of an automobile. Without it, it is difficult to imagine that your vehicle will even work. An automobile battery is a type of battery that performs chemical reactions and supplies electric current to the automobile. It is basically used to start the vehicle. It sends a high voltage of power burst to the ignition to give the kick it needed to start a vehicle.

Now that we understand how important a battery is for an automobile, we also need to understand that there are multiple types of batteries that can be put into use in a vehicle. Following types will help you to get into the details:

1.Lead Acid Battery - It is also known as flooded cell battery which is used all over the globe. It uses a liquid component as an electrolyte. These are rechargeable battery types available in various capacities and sizes. They come in various designs and its capacity depends on the electrolyte present in it. They are sealed batteries and require low maintenance.

2.VRLA Battery - VRLA stands for Valve Regulated Lead Acid batteries. They are also known as sealed Lead acid batteries (SLA). They can be defined as valve regulated sealed batteries which have no ventilation for the gasses to pass. They are designed in such a way that they do not spill when tilted, inverted or turned over. They require almost no maintenance at all and they are long lasting as well. They are considered one of the safest batteries available in the modern world.

3.Deep Cycle battery -. They are sealed batteries that last longer and provide current for a longer period of time. They are constructed with thicker battery plates and contain dense active material. Because of this, they have more charge and discharge cycles and can work longer without degrading. They are mostly used in inverters, golf carts, RVs and marine vehicles. Deep cycle batteries are a bit steep for their high discharge rate.

4.Lithium ion battery - These are the kind of rechargeable batteries which are designed with the latest technology and use lithium ions as one of the main components for their electrochemistry. They have been garnering huge attention due to their use in the electric and hybrid cars. They have high power to weight ratio, high energy efficiency, low maintenance, work well at high temperature and low self discharge. These batteries can also be recycled and, thereby, is one of the best sustainable batteries available in today’s world.

5.Gel Cell battery - These are a type of VRLA battery and also known as dry cell batteries. These are constructed as a non-spillable version of a flooded battery. The gel batteries are similar to a flooded battery but the only difference is that antimony plates are replaced by the calcium plates and silica is added to the electrolyte solution. They are known for their powerful resistance to corrosion and hot temperature. It also doesn’t require very low maintenance.

The key to long life of a vehicle depends on what kind of battery is used in it. It's very important to understand the types of batteries that can be installed in an automobile. With the advancement of an automobile’s technology, their batteries are also being advanced in order to increase the efficiency of it.
Every battery comes with some advantages and disadvantages. Ecopower has been a leading  Battery manufacturer in India. We are known for being the world class Automotive battery manufacturers in Lakhimpur.

How to Maintain your Car Battery?

Your car's battery is essentially its most crucial component, so it must be taken care of. There are primarily two types of automobile batteries available today: -Car batteries with lead acid. Automobile lithium ion batteries. To avoid any issues, only get batteries from the best battery manufacturer in Rajasthan . Lead acid batteries are the most popular, and we will solely discuss lead acid automobile batteries in this blog. What are Lead- Acid Batteries? Rechargeable lead-acid batteries were first developed in 1859 by French physicist Gaston Planté. The first rechargeable batteries ever made were these ones. Lead-acid batteries have a relatively high power-to-weight ratio due to its capacity to deliver strong surge currents. These qualities make them appealing for use in motor vehicles to supply the high current needed by starter motors, in addition to their inexpensive price. The following are guidelines for maintaining lead acid-based car batteries: 1. Check t...

What is Battery Additives and How to Increase Batteries Life?

Battery additive is a substance that is added to a battery to enhance its performance or extend its life. These additives can include various  battery chemicals , compounds, or solutions that are designed to address specific issues that can affect the battery's performance or longevity. Some examples of   Battery Additives manufacturer   : Battery conditioners or rejuvenators: These additives can help to clean and maintain the battery, which can improve its overall performance and extend its life. Desulfators: These additives can help to remove sulfation, which is a build-up of sulfate crystals on the battery's lead plates. This can improve the battery's ability to hold a charge and increase its overall life. Voltage stabilizers: These additives can help to regulate the voltage in the battery, which can prevent overcharging and undercharging. Corrosion inhibitors: These additives can help to prevent corrosion on the battery terminals, which can improve the battery's ...
