Maintenance Of Electric Scooter Battery

The introduction of electric vehicles has revolutionized the world of power. Electric bikes or electric scooters are the new addition in the long line of electric vehicles. Electric scooters are based on the same concept of that of an electric car. Instead of using fuel for the operation of the scooter, a battery is used to move it around.

1.Charging Level - The life of an electric scooter or the E-bike battery can be increased by controlling its charging and discharging limits. It is recommended to not discharge the battery below 20% and charge it to the maximum limit of 80%. The battery life starts to worsen when it is pushed to its limit. It is easy to charge the battery till 80% but after that the battery starts to push its limit which impacts the quality of electrodes and the plates in the battery.


2.Properly charge the batteries - The batteries of electric bikes should not be discharged completely. It is recommended to charge the battery even after using it for a few miles specially in the lithium ion batteries. If the battery is fully discharged, it loses its ability to hold a charge. 


3.Maintain the Temperature - It is advised to store the e-scooter at a place with moderate temperature. Neither too cold nor too hot temperature is required for the batteries. Too much of anything will affect the battery chemistry ruining its quality and efficiency. It will also be difficult for the battery to work for a longer lifespan.


4.Keep the charge - It is to be kept in mind to keep the battery charged even if it has not been in use for a while. The battery loses its charging slowly and can be discharged in some time. If the electric scooter is not used for a long time, it is best to charge the battery at least once a month to maintain the quality and condition. 


5.Charge the bike for 12 hours - When you buy a new electric bike or scooter, it is recommended to charge it for a minimum of 12 hours continuously. This will make sure the current is flowing through all the cells and parts of the battery which will make it more efficient.


Maintaining electric bikes or scooters is an important task to increase the efficiency and durability of it. As much as the e-bike is going to help the environment by reducing the use of fossil fuel generated resources to be used in the vehicles, it is important to keep an eye on all the parts of the bike, especially the battery.
